19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent the Russian player won his first title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since spring of that year.
The win also signifies he has won 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in that event previously this season.
His retrieving approach and regular outbursts on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.
However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to create a final set.
The opponent rescued four early break points in a close final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
