From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party access places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
